Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the aspects related to the use and satisfaction of health services among elderly residents of Joao Pessoa - PB. Method: This is a cross-sectional study using data collected through home visits based on a random sample of subjects aged 60 years or older. Data entry and quality assurance were performed using Epi Info™. Results: The FHU proved to be a referral service for the elderly population, being used by 90.8% of them. 57.6% perceived it as good or very good. A significant association (p less than 0.005) was verified between FHU evaluation and the variables selfperceived health, number of visits to FHU and having received doctor’s home visits. Conclusion: It could be verified that the studied population makes use regularly of the services provided in the primary health care, which is essential to following up this group’s welfare as well as to verify that satisfaction with the services provided is related to the variables self-perceived health, number of visits to FHU and having received doctor’s home visits.
