BUILDING THE MULTIPROFESSIONALISM: A LOOK AT THE MULTIPROFESSIONAL RESIDENCE IN FAMILY AND COMMUNITY HEALTH

Abstract

Objective: To analyze the perception of preceptors and residents of a multiprofessional residence in family and community health (RMSFC) linked to Federal University of Paraíba, about the process of construction of multiprofessionalism during such training. Material and Methods: This is an exploratory field research, with quali-quantitative approach, conducted in December 2010, along with 6 preceptors and 10 residents of a multiprofessional residence in family and community health at the Public Health Nucleus, Federal University of Paraiba. Data collection was performed by using questionnaires, participant observation with field journaling and documentary research. Results: It was found that the process of building multiprofessionalism in health from this training modality presents itself as a potent tool to possibly change the medical-centered support model, but the interfaces that multiprofessionalism in health demands (interdisciplinarity and integrated team) still present challenges to be conquered. Conclusion: Multiprofessionalism in the health care production and management of services emerges as a need to meet organizational and philosophical principles established by the Unified Health System. In the context of the RMSFC/UFPB, there are distortions of understanding among preceptors and residents about some aspects that composed the pedagogical process with a view to the multiprofessional practice approach.
