CURRENT PRACTICE OF SWIMMING AMONG SUBJECTS WITH PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
Abstract
Objective: To describe the current practice of swimming and other activities among individuals who practiced the sport at ages 7 to 13. Material and Methods: It was conducted a cross-sectional study including 66 individuals of both sexes, who answered a questionnaire addressing demographic, nutritional and health issues, as well as the current practice of swimming and other physical activities. Results: The prevalence of current practice of swimming was 6.1%. The main reasons reported for quitting the habit of swimming were lack of time, willingness to practice other sports and boredom. From those who stopped practicing swimming, 54% practiced other types of exercise. Conclusion: The prevalence of current swimming practice and other physical activities was found to be low and worrying. DESCRIPTORS Swimming. Motor Activity. Cross-Sectional Studies.Downloads
