STRESS IN NURSING PROFESSIONALS: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW
Abstract
Objective:To perform a systematic review of scientific literature on stress in nursing professionals. Material and Methods:The Virtual Health Library (BVS)was used to perform the bibliographical searches in three databases: Lilacs (Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences), BDEnf (Nursing database), and SciELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online). The search was carried out between March 12 and 28 2013, restricting the articles published from 2000 to 2012. The selected articles were analyzed and scored for the scale "Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro). A total of 19 scientific articles were includedin this systematic review. Results: The results showed that nursing professionalsare continually susceptible to stress, which can be caused by several factors, including the double working day, routine, and concern for the other self.Our findings also revealed that this group has symptoms related to both physical and psychologicalstress. Conclusion: We may conclude that nursing professionalsmay face stressing situations in their daily routine.Thus, their stress level was found to be between moderate and high. DESCRIPTORS: Stress.
