Abstract

SUMMARY Objectives: This study aims at showing procedures performed by dentists in the Family Health Program (Programa Saúde da Família) (PSF) in Teresina and comparing them with the objectives of the Health Ministry. Material And Methods: Data was gathered based on the evaluation of productive maps provided by Health City Foundation, between July and December 2004 for 76 Oral Health Teams (Equipes de Saúde Bucal) (ESB) in the Northern and Eastern/Southeastern regions of the capital. Results: Considering the evaluated period and the studied regions, 16,417 people were seen with an execution of 15,206 clinical trials, 4,714 provisory restorations, 34,132 preventive procedures, 30,343 periodontal and surgical procedures, 42,167 restoring procedures and 811 endodontic procedures. Conclusions: The consonance in the implantation of ESB in Teresina is partial, since the productive maps do not cover all activities that should be performed by dentists, the creation of a new form is recommended in order to allow better control of the activities developed within PSF. DESCRIPTORS Dentistry. Preventive actions. Healing actions.
