At-home Dental Bleaching
Abstract
SUMMARY Objective: To clinically compare the action of carbamide peroxide at 10% and 16% in at-home bleaching on patients assisted at the Clínicas Odontológicas of the UEPB, in Campina Grande-Paraíba-Brazil. Material and Methods: It is a comparative research and direct observation. The sample consists of 12 patients residents in this location. The data collected through clinical examination was presented in absolute values, in tables. Results: We could observe that in both concentrations of carbamide peroxide the results were satisfactory in dental bleaching reaching color A1 and B1. Dental sensibility varied from light to exaggerated, but it was controlled by daily application of neutral fluoride. Darker teeth require more bleaching sessions than lighter ones, even with different concentrations of a bleaching agent. Conclusion: The At-home Dental Bleaching is an excellent option for a conservative aesthetic treatment. This technique should always set off from the patient, never from the surgeon-dentist, and the clinical success of the treatment is directly proportional to the patient’s expectation.
