Incidence and Risk Factors of Intracranial Hemorrhage in Newborns
Abstract
SUMMARY Intraventricular hemorrhage (ICV) is an outstanding cause of mortality and morbidity of very low weight newborns. Disastrous consequences may mostly occur if the diagnosis is made in a late stage. Several risk factors associated with ICH, such as low weight at birth and prematurity, have been identified. On the other hand, the survival of extremely low-weight newborns has increased significantly in the last decades. DESCRIPTORS Prematurity. Ultrasonography. Intraventricular hemorrhage.Downloads
