ROOT COVERAGE IN CLASS III MILLER GINGIVAL RECESSION
Abstract
This paper is a case report of root coverage using the gingival lateral slide flap associated with tissue graft for covering a Miller Class III gingival recession. This report is about a patient, male, 45 years, with localized severe chronic periodontitis, traumatic brushing and occlusal trauma in the region of tooth 41, with a Miller Class III retraction, bypassing the mucogingival line, close to the apex. Tooth with rotation, extrusion and interproximal bone loss. Initially, periodontal basic procedures were performed and occlusal adjustment. The surgical procedure used lateral slide flap associated with graft tissue, scaling and root planning with diamond drills (Perioset®), gracey curets 5-6 and tetracycline chloridrate 125mg/ml. Absorbable sutures was used for graft fixation to the periosteum and external sutures with silk suture thread 4.0. An approximately 80% of gingival recession covering was obtained using of this technique, combined with a significant decrease in the depth and bleeding on probing, formation of a long junctional epithelium, compatible with periodontal health. In conclusion, despite the low predictability of surgical outcomes for the proposed therapy a satisfactory root coverage was obtained.Downloads
