Abstract

Objective: To characterize and investigate differences in patients with breast ductal carcinoma according to the diagnosis in situ (DCIS) or invasive type (ICD). Methodology: Descriptive and exploratory analysis of the population form an oncology sector between 2010 and 2018, based on the comparative distribution for the DCIS and CDI groups according to variables related to the sociodemographic profile, reproductive and behavioral risk factors, besides the treatments used. Results: The results obtained for the sample formed by 119 patients, 47.06% of the DCIS type and 52.94% of the ICD, indicated that: (a) Both groups demonstrated a higher frequency of the disease in the age group ≥ 50 years; (b) The reproductive factors were different in the in situ profile, probably due to the number of births protective effect and menarche in the age group between 12 and 15 years-old; (c) Most patients were positive for hormone receptors, showing a probably less aggressive profile; (d) Chemotherapy treatment is the main therapeutic approach for both groups, with emphasis on the ICD group. Conclusion: The differences found for risk factors are not yet taken into account in the therapeutic choice, since the treatments were similar between the DCIS and CDI groups.
