Abstract

Objective: To understand how the work context and perceptions of risk and care relate in the
territory covered by the Family Health teams. Methodology: An ethnographic approach, using
participant observation and a field diary. Data processing occurred through Thematic Analysis, in
which the themes emerged from the inductive approach and the analysis of the description of
everyday scenes in the investigated territory. Results: In this territory, the observer was able to
identify the naturalization of risk by those who live with it, pointing out the risk of working at home
or outside the home and its consequences for the worker's social protection. Formal and

informal production processes were identified, carried out at home or in formal workplaces. It is
suspected that even small production processes can harm the environment and health of the
community, in which this risk may be being normalized by primary health care professionals, due
to the difficulty in recognizing them. The population is often exposed to the risk of the most
different types of local production processes and often make them habitual, which are capable of
impacting the community, polluting the environment, increasing the risk of accidents or making it
difficult to go and come from the population. Conclusion: The investigation of the territory must
also be guided by the worker's health, and needs to consider the characteristics of risk in the
territory, in order to build an approach aimed at the needs of the population. It is also advocated
that the notion of risk is a social construction and as such it can be modified.
