The Family Health Strategy and the Psychosocial Care Network are important components of the Health Care Network, being essential to guarantee comprehensive care. Objective: To understand the perception of health managers and workers about the role of the Family Health Strategy in the Psychosocial Care Network (CAPS). Methodology: This is a qualitative and analytical study, resulting from a professional master's research in family health, carried out between January and February 2019, in a capital in the Northeast Region of Brazil. Eleven workers from three Family Health Unit teams and two health managers from the municipality in question participated in the research. Data collection took place through semi-structured interviews, which were investigated and interpreted from the framework, of Bardin's thematic content analysis. Results: Professionals recognize the Family Health Strategy as a gateway and coordinator of care in the health care network for users with mental disorders, considering matrix support as a fundamental strategy in the process of articulation and comprehensive care. They also pointed out the challenges for implementing the policy and working in a network. Final considerations: Several challenges are experienced daily in the context of mental health care, however it is essential to involve professionals and managers and sensitize the population to care practices that transpose the biomedical model.
