Abstract

O presente artigo visa a examinar as características do Brasil no período em que oBarão do Rio Branco era Ministro de Relações Exteriores. Serão analisadas as principaisatuações do Ministério de Relações Exteriores durante o período, sejam elas: sua interaçãocom os demais países sul-americanos e sua relação com os Estado Unidos. A partir dessaanálise, pretende-se investigar a elevação do status brasileiro dentro do contexto regional(América do Sul) durante o período e elucidar esse fato através das medidas tomadas peladiplomacia à época.
