Abstract

Abstract: The 18th century marked profound changes in European culture. The affirmation of a new model of perception of the world, based on the Enlightenment movement, brought to the academic world new cultural models and provided scientific treatment with other civilizations. In this sense, it was up to Friedrich David Gräter to start Scandinavian studies on German soil, and the poem An die nordische Dichtkunst (To Nordic poetry), which opens his important volume Nordische Blumen (Nordic Flowers), announces to the reader that the Nordic world will enter the scene, personified in the deity Nordia, which claims and occupies her deserved space in the universal pantheon of the cultural and social history of humanity.
