Abstract

The aim of the article is to investigate the impact of the structural transformations on the Brazilian income distribution, between 1976 and 2005. This purpose was accomplished by selecting an ad hoc econometrical model in which the dependent variable is the coefficient of Theil. The results confirm the significant importance of structural changes on the Brazilian income distribution in that period; however, it remains the need of public policies to overcome the concentrate profile of the Brazilian income distribution.
