Abstract

The Brazilian labor market law does not enforce the inclusion of Persons with Disabilities (PDs). In this context the Associação Canoense de Deficientes Físicos (ACADEF) along with public and private companies developed actions to promote the inclusion of PDs in the labour market. This study focuses the relations and work conditions of 11 PDs subcontracting from ACADEF at the Alberto Pasqualini Refinery (REFAP) in Canoas — RS. The results point out that the PDs have achieved respect and value from workmates and boss dued their capacities. They have performed adequately their tasks although prejudice and discrimination are still present within the relations at work. Regarding the access of these workers, REFAP has already adequate some locals but there are a lot to be done. It was also verified that most of the PDs had presented difficulties to entry the labour market before joining ACADEF and without it support they believe they would not participate of the labour market.
