Organization of the Production and Labor Processs in Creative Areas: Handicraft Local Production Arrangement in Caicó-Rio Grande do Norte

Abstract

This work aims to specifically analyze how the organization of Handicraft arrangement in the semi-arid Caicó region at the Rio Grande do Norte State in Brazil make their productive process possible. Some items are analyzed such as the necessary phases, the main actors involved in the mentioned Local Production Arrangement, especially those directly related to the production cycle and the relations amongst them. The study also describes their productive cycle, the emphasis on its functions as well as knowledge on behalf of the agents involved. The theoretical landmark related to studies deal with the REDESIST/IE/UFRJ (Research network in Productive Systems and Local Innovative). The methodological procedures consisted of applications of open-ended questionnaires and interviews. It is possible to evaluate that the organization and production of the work process in the mentioned Local Production Arrangement reveal certain limits. Once these limits are identified they can, be considered policies for the sustainability of the activity in forms of commercialization, training, financing, management as well as technology policies. The article contains three sections. The first one has four sub-sections and is about the Caicó embroidery local production organization, while the second refers to the embroidery production process. Finally the conclusions.
