Abstract

This paper describes and analyses the attitude of the Brazilian Labour Movement in face of the possibility of unions structure and law reform in different historical contexts: the decade of 1980´s, with special regard to the alterations introduced by the 1988 Federal Constitution; the year of 1993, after President Collor de Mello´s impeachment; and, more recently, in the first government of the President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, in 2003, when the Labour National Forum — FNT — was created. It aims, also to identify the main approaches of different Brazilian union movement tendencies before the proposals to modify the political and juridical frame of labour relations system.
