PRODUCTIVE REORGANIZATION EFFECTS ON WORKERS FROM TWO TEXTILE FIRMS OF THE STATE OF SERGIPE

Abstract

This work aims at identifing outcomes from the restructuring of the productive structure in the Brazilian textile industry concerning industrial processes and labor relations by analyzing two firms located in the state of Sergipe. In order to achieve this, the first section analyses restructuring processes of the productive structure starting from the Taylorist/Fordist model. The following section briefly analyses trade openness and productive restructuring effects related to the domestic textile industry. The third section focuses on the textile industry located in the state of Sergipe. Through field research from two textile firms in Sergipe, the outcomes of technological and organizational changes on industrial processes and labor relations are reviewed. Workers were observed to realize both positive and negative aspects from these processes.
