Abstract

This article aims to analyze the efficiency of PNAD as a data source for rural social security studies. The 1988 Constitution expandedthe retirement age without regular contribution for family farmers and self-employed. Using the PNAD microdata for the 1990s, we reproduce this contingent, and observed that it has the same tendencyas DATAPREV. However, doing the same analysis by gender, we found out that the proxy of retirees overestimated the number of women and underestimated the number of men.
