Abstract

Differences in income from work in Brazil are extremely high and affect the employed according to their socioeconomic and demographic characteristics. Therefore, this article aims to analyze the differentials of income from work among migrants, according to race / color. The data comes from the Demographic Censuses of the years 2000 and 2010. To smooth the income differentials between white and non-white migrants, the use of Quantile Regressions is used. The results show that the differentials in income from work, even among migrants who, on average, earn higher incomes than non-migrants in Brazil - when analyzed by race / color - show high disparities between white and non-white migrants in favor of those. Furthermore, and all the quantiles of the conditional wage distribution, white migrants earned higher labor earnings than non-whites.
