Abstract

The objective of the work is to decompose the variation of jobs of 12 agricultural crops in Minas Gerais into four effects: labor intensity, productivity of the planted area, structure and area, seeking to determine which of the four effects had the greatest contribution to the variation in the level. of employment in the agricultural sector in Minas Gerais between 2006 and 2019. Data from the Annual Social Information Report (RAIS) and the Municipal Agricultural Survey (PAM) are used. The methodology used is the Log-Mean Divisia Index Method I (LMDI I) which breaks down agricultural employment into different effects. The main conclusion is that the intensity effect was the main responsible for the loss of jobs for the analyzed cultures. There was a reduction in the number of workers due to the relative growth of less labor intensive crops. Finally, the increase in the harvested area contributed to the smaller loss of jobs in the countryside.
