Abstract

This text explores the different epistemological bases and the origins of the respective theoretical-practical constructs of solidarity economics and of decent work practices in the perspective of the institutional performance of the Federal Institutes of Education in Brazil, taking into account the fundamentals of professional education and the concepts of social technology, technological innovation and technological extension. The text addresses the limits and convergences between different contributions, exploring to what extent and in what aspects they can combine, and how such approaches can be useful to the educational mission of the Federal Institutes of Education. Further, the text explores the reciprocity of a potential contribution of these Institutes to the development of the solidary economy and decent work.
