Abstract

The book written by the anthropologist Letícia Cesarino proposes an elegant cybernetic analysis of phenomena such as digital populisms, denialisms, conspiracisms and post-truth. Her chief argument is that the digital platforms introduce biases favorable to antistructural forces like the mentioned ones. She explains how the technical materiality involved in the internet affords the necessary conditions for the fast development of the crisis of science and of the democracy we live through nowadays. This review seeks both to present the book and to critically evaluate the role played by systemic agency in the diagnosis brought by Cesarino.
