Abstract

Inthe Brazilian’s northeastern region the sweet potato is cultivated by small producers in familiar farm system, consisting an alternative for feeding and generation of job and income. We aimed in this work to evaluate the Phytomassand production of sweet potato genotypes in swamp Paraibano. The work was realized at Universidade Federal da Paraíba, located in Areia-PB, in randomized blocks experimental design with six treatments and four replicates. The characteristics evaluated were green and dry matter plant-1, total and commercial root productivities. The genotype Rainha Branca showed higher green mass plant-1values. The dry matter plant-1 production was higher in the genotypes Rainha Branca and Paraíba.Roots with higher mean matter were produced in thegenotype Rainha Branca. The number of comercial roots and production of roots plant-1was upper inthe genotypes Jardim Vitaminada e Paraíba. Highertotal root productivities were reached in the genotypes Melindrosa and Paraíba, while the highest productivities of commercial roots were obtained from genotypes Melindrosa, Paraíba and Jardim Vitaminada. In view of the foregoing, all genotypes adapted itselves to the conditions of Areia-PB.
