THE LINK BETWEEN WORK PROCESS AND ORGANIZATION AND COMMUNITY AGENT’S MENTAL HEALTH IN THE FAMILY HEALTH STRATEGY IN JOÃO PESSOA - PB
Abstract
Objective: This article aims to analyze work process and organization of Community Health Agents (CHA), highlighting the workloads that interfere with their mental health. Material and methods: This is a qualitative case-study based on dialectical historical materialism carried out through direct observation and semistructured interviews with 15 CHA linked to two Family Health Teams in the city of Joao Pessoa-PB. Results and discussion: According to the study it was attested that there is a link between work process and organization and CHA’s mental health. Results indicate that in their daily work workloads are able to cause not only physical but also mental deterioration, and the consequences might be understood in terms of psychological and psychosomatic symptoms or even mental illness. Conclusions: It is necessary to reevaluate CHA’s work process and organization in order to create a more favorable labor organization for such workers.
