THE TEACHING OF DECISION MAKING IN NURSING: PERCEPTIVE EVALUATION OF PROFESSORS WORKING IN A PUBLIC HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTION
Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the teaching process of decision making in the disciplines of nursing sciences from the professors’ perspective. Material and Methods: This was an exploratory, descriptive and inferential study with quantitative approach performed in a Public Higher Education Institution that has an undergraduate program in nursing in the city of João Pessoa, Paraíba. A semi-structured questionnaire was applied to a sample of 36 professors. Data analysis was carried out on Software R by means of hypothesis tests for proportions and independence tests. Results: The professors reported: non-specific training to perform their activities in the institution; non-interference of coordination staff in course plans; teaching of decision-making in the discipline; and that the students should learn a model of decision making. Conclusion: The teaching of decision-making in the disciplines of nursing sciences was found to have positive aspects, with exception to the lack of didactic-pedagogical training for professors.
