EVALUATION OF PRIMARY HEALTH CARE IN THE CITY OF JACAREÍ
Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the expansion of the Family Health Program in the city of Jacarei 2004-2011, and the indicators that constitute the Pact for Life. Material and Methods: Data relating to primary health care in the city of Jacareí from 2004 to 2011 were collected from the databases SIAB data, SINASC, SIH, SISVAN and IBGE. Results: The number of registered families in the period increased by 54.69%, resulting in an increased number of registrations from 32,497 to 50,295. The number of monitored diabetic and hypertensive patients also increased by 152.31% and 160.22%, respectively. In the period 2007-2011, the proportion of people registered by the Family Health Program decreased from 14.56% to 13.13%, but the percentage of beneficiary families of the “Bolsa Família” followed-up by primary care increased from 22.87% to 33.02%. The proportion of live births to mothers with seven or more prenatal consultations also increased from 64.78% to 77.07%, leading consequently to a decrease in the percentage of underweight children under five years (3.37% to 1.84%). The hospitalization rates due to diabetes mellitus and its complications decreased from 7.63% to 5.21%, unlike to stroke which increased from 6.13% to 10.77%. Conclusion: During the period evaluated there was a significant expansion of the Family Health Program in the city of Jacareí and a considerable improvement of the indicators that constitute the Pact for Life.
