Objective: to analyze the discourse presented by professionals from multidisciplinary teams about the provision of specialized care in Primary Health Care and its relations with the organization of the health system. Methodology: qualitative research in the theoretical-methodological perspective of French Discourse Analysis, developed in three municipalities in the state of Paraíba with the participation of 13 health professionals from different categories. Results: from the discourse, meanings emerged that show: a) the work of these teams developed in a fragmented, assistentialist, and vertical manner, with their function distorted from matrix support for flow regulator for the specialized low density network; b) the intervention of primary health care managers on the work of these teams, causing dissatisfaction among professionals about the real work developed and the prescribed work contained in the guidelines of the Brazilian health system. Conclusion: these health professionals have not yet achieved their goal of being a matrix supporter and continue to reproduce the care practices of the health care model, focused primarily on healing, clinic and specialty, reaffirming the hegemony of the biomedical model.Downloads
