USERS AND FAMILY HEALTH TEAM IN THE HEALTH CONSTRUCTION PROCESS

Abstract

Communitarian participation in the planning and development of actions of the Family Health Team (FHT) aims at empowerment of users on the capacity to think their own health and to intervene in the health-illness process. Objective: We evaluate here how participation of the community in the health construction in Family Health Unit (FHU) has been developed. Material and methods: This is a qualitative study on the construction of health using focus groups and involving professionals and users of the “Timbó II” FHT to collect data. Qualitative analysis was done using analysis of content. Results: Analysis of data collected in the focus group showed different positions by the FHT and users on the understanding of health, on the importance of community and FHT involvement in the construction of health and social mobilization. Conclusion: Data has showed the need for implementation of strategies to be developed by the FHT to involve users so that these participate of the elaboration of local plans of confrontation of the health-illness process.
