Resumo

The termite fauna of Northeast Brazil is poorly known. Since the beginning of the 1990s, termite studies have been conducted in their natural environment, such as Atlantic Humid Forest, Semi-Arid Region (Caatinga) and Upland Humid Forest. Also, since that time, some urban centers, infested with native and exotic species, have been studied. This paper presents an overview of the systematic and ecological knowledge about termites of Northeast Brazil.
