Resumo

Molt in 5th instar nymphs of Triatoma brasiliensis depends on the quantity of blood ingested in a sigle or several meals. The molt it obtained when the insects ingested more than 182mg of blood. Over than 500 mg of blood ingested we observed 100% of molting. The insects can be subdivided in two distincts groups according to the quantity of blood ingested and its utilization as well as t e body growth. The mathematical expression concerning the two groups of insects are: G = a (S - M)b, where G =gain of weight; S = quantity of blood ingested (mg); M =100 mg of blood, limit below which the insects lost weight. The parameters of this equation to the insects that molt with a single meal, are: G =7,525 (S - 100)0,458. To the insects that havn't molt, are : G =0,09 (S - 100)1,181.
