Resumo

The present study describes the behaviour of a female of Thamnodynastes rutilus and eight offspring during the parturation in captivity. The only female born at the same litter practised cannibalism. The animals are characterized morphologically. Morphometric and meristic data concerning the offspring, the mother and one adult male from the same location are presented. Figures representing the color patterns of the young and of the mother are provided. This paper also reports new occurrences for T. rutilis.
