BREVE HISTÓRIA DE CLARICE LISPECTOR COMO PROFISSIONAL DE IMPRENSA NO BRASIL (1940-1977)

Abstract

This paper, part of the research for my doctoral dissertation in History, briefly discusses the path taken by Clarice Lispector (1920-1977) in the press in circulation in Brazil, considering the movement between the authoress's life and work. Based on works such as the biography by Nádia Batella Gotlib, Clarice: uma vida que se conta (2013); Clarice's correspondence, compiled by Tereza Monteiro in the titles Correspondências (LISPECTOR, 2002) and Minhas queridas (2007); and texts published in Brazilian newspapers and journals, as in the work A descoberta do mundo (LISPECTOR, 1999), and the compilations organized by Aparecida Maria Nunes in the books Correio feminino (2006), Só para mulheres (2008), I correlate Clarice’s life and work with the (inter)national historical context and the profile of the press in circulation in Brazil. Therefore, I observe part of the 20th century, the Brazilian binary and patriarchal structure from the Vargas Age (1930-1945) to the Military Dictatorship (1964-1985), the profile of the press in these periods and the communication outlets where the Claricean texts were published, in order to situate the authoress both individually and collectively, for a better understanding of her writing and her positioning.
