Abstract

Although Rebelo's name has circulated among writers of great literary criticism (ANDRADE, 1974; COUTINHO, 1971, BOSI, 1972), since the publication of his first book, Oscarina (1931), there has been a near erasure of inherent studies. to the author's production within the context of contemporary literary studies. Aiming to bring to light the author's name and, specifically, the novel A Estrela Sobe, published in 1939, this article aims to analyze the path of the novel's central character, Leniza. Therefore, through a bibliographical research, authors are reviewed, such as: Troian (2013); Wagner (2018); Waller (2008); Scholze (2002); Vidal and Alves de Aguiar (2002), in order to seek to understand Leniza as a woman ahead of her time, with her conflicts and challenges.
