Resumo

Teoria e prática nasceram juntas, mas foram separadas por motivos diversos. Entre os motivos, destaco (1) um entendimento incompleto de sua necessária articulação para o bom funcionamento da vida individual, organizacional e social, (2) a complexidade crescente do conhecimento humano e suas aplicações nem sempre imediatas, e (3) interesses de território profissional. Neste ano de 2021, comemoramos os primeiros 10 anos da TPA, revista acadêmica que busca reaproximar a teoria e a prática para que contribuam, cada qual com seu rol de experiências, para a administração das organizações contemporâneas. Aqui, brevemente relato o surgimento da TPA e apresento meu principal interesse de atenção a ela nos próximos 10 anos.

Biografia do Autor

Carlo Gabriel Porto Bellini, UFPB

Carlo Bellini holds Ph.D. and M.Sc. degrees in Management and a B.Sc. degree in Computer Science from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) at Porto Alegre, Southern Brazil. He worked several years as systems analyst, DBA, and programmer in the Brazilian software industry, servicing customer companies in industries such as air transportation, news media, and telecom. He is associate professor of Information Systems and research representative at the Management Department, Center for the Applied Social Sciences (CCSA), Universidade Federal da Paraíba (UFPB) at João Pessoa - the Easternmost city of the Americas. He is also vice-head of the Center for Technology and Regional Development (CTDR) at UFPB, which is focused on research that leverage the local economy through the capabilities of its people, industry and natural resources. Dr. Bellini is chief researcher of the Information Technology & Society research group at the Brazilian research agency (CNPq) for promoting IT as a vector of business standardization and positive social change. He is editor-in-chief of Teoria e Prática em Administração (a peer-reviewed Brazilian journal that discusses management theory and practice) and in 2009 he and Dr. Rita Pereira edited the very first special issue of an international journal (Journal of Global Information Technology Management) dedicated exclusively to IT research in Brazil. Membership includes: ANPAD (Brazil), AIS, INFORMS and ACM. He invites academics and practitioners to collaborate in research and industry efforts on his main professional interests: IT-mediated social change and organizational improvement. He is also interested in the management of IT professionals, social issues of IT development and use, IT service quality, IT research methods, IT aesthetics, Internet-mediated communities, and business ethics.
