Abstract

This article discusses the effect of race on wages and the wage gap between races in the Brazilian labor market. The results point out the negative effect of density over wages and consequently higher wage gaps in labor markets where racial density is higher. These results are consistent with the hypothesis of crowding in the labor market. We find out a positive correlation between discrimination and racial density and the discrimination effect is higher in the manufacturing sector. These achieving are structured in three sections. The first one presents the methodology that was used, in the second section we analyze the results and in the last section we present our conclusion
