Abstract

This text approaches the system of production cell in textile factories in São Paulo. The main hypothesis is that such an organization system contributes to the privarization of labour relations, because it dissolves collective class identity and promotes individual and competitive values due to the economic demands for quality and efficiency. First, there is a comparison among the characteristics of the new and the previous model, based on production line. Second, there is a brief description of how cells work, showing the survey data of two companies, bur for different products. Ir is discussed the meaning of polivalence and importance of designing a new model, however facing problems af the work market. Finally, the article points to an in-depths of the preliminary hypothesis by means of a more qualitative appraach and the shift to an extra-textile reality.
