Abstract

The present study analyzes comparatively the demographic profile, between genders, of home based work on their own in Brazil from 1992 to 2008. PNAD’s micro data from 1992 to 2008 indicated by socio-demographic variables as: age, household condition, color or race, years of schooling, monthly income, type of activity andcontribution to Social Security. The results of the empirical analysis revealed a scenario in which women arehistorically located in lower socioeconomic conditions, possibly due to sexual and gender division of labor.
