STRUCTURAL CHANGES IN THE ROAD TRANSPORTATION AND THE REORGANIZATION IN THE BRAZILlAN TRUCK DRIVERS LABOR MARKET

Abstract

This paper investigates the work situation and the employment relationship between workers (employers) and enterprises that take part in the truck drive labor markets. The theoretical structure take in to account the changes observed in the international experience, mainly in the developed countries, with the intention to show how works this labor market. The paper development has intended answer two questions: 1) Can the productive transformations be observable in international scenario to change the relation of employment of the "self employed" truck driver? 2) Are the "self employed" truck driver a traditional worker or it represents a new link between the work and the capital? To answer these questions, the paper approached the follow topics that compose the structure. The second section has a revision about the productive transformation in the transportation sector and its impacts in employment relationships in the international scenario. The third section presents different kind utilization of truck driver work in the transportation sector. The fourth section intents to identify the ways of workers insertion in the labor force with the objective is to show the truck drivers specific occupational situation.The fifth section show us the organization of the Brazilian highway network and its relationship between the "self employed" truck driver, the traditional truck driver and the enterprises. The last section presents the main conclusions. It follows references.
