Abstract

This paper analyzes the challenges of recycling's cooperative network of waste pickers solidarity economy (Cataunidos network) and the policy of solid waste in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte. The reflections presented here result from monitoring groups of collectors organized into associations and cooperatives in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte (RMBH); participation in public hearings and meetings of the Observatory for Inclusive and solidarity recycling (ORIS); space and gather recyclables collectors, researchers and practitioners from non-governmental organizations; sponsoring purport to be a device for producing ideas that guide actions and specific projects related to collectors and recycling. The results highlight the need of strengthening the political struggle around the consolidation of social solidarity recycling technology, face technologies tend to eliminate waste pickers of recycling production chain, as incineration.
