Abstract

The study aims to discuss the forced undocumented labour in the Brazilian context. It considers the rising volume and importance of the international immigration flows (especially in developed countries, but also in peripheral ones) and its connection with the labour market dynamism – specifically the precarious working and living conditions of the international migrants. The study also analyses the characteristics of the peripheral social base of migration flows (with undocumented status) on the global level and its manifestation in Brazil. It also points some elements indicating how the undocumented status (regarding work) is not just a synonymous of informality. Finally, it analyses the literature about Bolivians work conditions in the textile industry of São Paulo city.
