Abstract

This paper analyses the sexual division of labor in IT sector which was identified through an empirical research done in São Paulo and Campinas cities. If, in IT sector, women are commonly concentrated in soft functions and men in hard ones, the feminization of relational functions and its naturalization as woman’s work, shows a contradictory movement. If women are not placed in hard activities- more prestigious and well payed, their number increases among managers, positions that have always been male space. The assumption is that women are best prepared to relational work than men, due to their feminine nature.
