Abstract

The paper analyses the teaching work in public universities of São Paulo, focusing both the breakdown and the recomposition of its structure. What are the labor conditions of the university professors, like salaries, careers and social protection? What are the impacts of the recent labor laws changings on university teaching work? What influences this work suffers from the neo-liberal guidelines of the international agencies, from the Brazilian norms concerning higher education, as well as from the lean management adopted in those universities? And what are the effects of all these orientations on the deterioration of labour conditions and on the professor performances? On the other hand, what are their possibilities of adaptation to the norms, of resilience and of collective mobilization?
