Abstract

The article aimed to measure and analyze income disparities and discrimination between socially vulnerable groups in the Brazilian labor market, by gender, skin color, and sexual orientation. PNAD-C microdata for 2019, unconditional quantile regressions (RIF regressions), and quantile decomposition (RIF decomposition) were used. The results of the regressions showed that men and whites earn more than women and non-whites, with low-income workers and women being the most affected. By decomposing quantile income, it was found that: i) discrimination was responsible for most of the difference in income between men and women; ii) the explained effect was the developer of income disparities between whites and non-whites and between homosexuals and heterosexuals; and iii) there is the presence of discrimination by gender and skin color, although the same cannot be said for the analysis of sexual orientation.
