Abstract

This article aimed to identify the main actions taken by Solidarity Economic Enterprises (EES) in the Southern Bahia Lowlands to strengthen and survive the COVID-19 crisis. Specifically, it sought to understand which management mechanisms the EES adopted to support the commercialization of products, what they did to sustain themselves financially and which mechanisms these enterprises used to strengthen their solidarity ties, based on the principles that underlie the solidarity economy. A qualitative case study was carried out through interviews with the coordination of the Public Center for Solidarity Economy (CESOL) and its team and with representatives who are part of the COOMAFES cooperative. The results showed that, despite the difficulties, it was possible to perceive other ways and ways of dealing with the problems brought by COVID-19. They were able to overcome them and continue their productive activities, generating work and income, guaranteeing the subsistence and sustainability of the enterprises and their families.
