Abstract

This article seeks to locate the phenomenon of work uberization in the context of global contemporary capitalism, deeply marked by neoliberalism, which we understand here as a "new capitalism." It also seeks to understand how uberization presents itself in the Brazilian context and reflects on the dimension of “dignified work”. To this end, we present five stories of life of application drivers, carried out through semi-structured interviews, in order to show the daily experience and the life path, sociologically relevant aspects to understand the work uberized in Brazil. From this, recurrences and practices are described in the speeches of the interviewees, in which it is clear the ambiguity of the flexibility of this work and the neoliberal subjectivation. The discussion of the results is guided, especially, by the theoretical perspective of Dardot and Laval (2016) and Richard Sennett (2006, 2015) and brought to the Brazilian class scenario from the studies of Jessé Souza (2012).
