Abstract

The reduction of working hours emerges as an alternative to labor precarity and the pursuit of work-life balance. This article examines its social, economic, and organizational impacts, combining a literature review with a case study of a company in Piracicaba, São Paulo. Data collected through questionnaires showed improvements in employees' mental health, productivity, and engagement, as well as a reduction in medical leave absences. At the organizational level, the measure led to greater efficiency and talent retention; externally, it generated jobs and strengthened the local economy. It is concluded that, with proper planning, this policy balances productive demands and social well-being while fostering regional development.
