Abstract

The main gaol of Brazilian secondary schools is to provide adolescents with a general scientific knowledge based on certain subjects which belong to all educational programs throughout the country. In order to do well at these subjects, students must get quite acquainted  with the particular scientific terminology to which they are constantly exposed in class and of which the are -impossible as it may seem - not aware.Therefore, teachers must urgently develop some kind of "terminological strategy "in order to familiarize their students with those terms they are to come across in the especialized context of each school subject.
