Abstract

We examine aspects of the complex organization of linguistic conventions and their as well complex underlying axiology. We consider the principle according to which the human groups re-elaborate, subject to their different views of the world, the biofacts, the sociofacts, the psychofacts, the manufacts, generating, this way, as many anthropocultural universes as the number of ethnic groups taken into consideration. This process of selective reduction/extension of characterizing features of "natural facts", constitutive of the substance of meaning is called conceptualization (Pottier, Rastier, Greimas, Pais). It is the process of conversion of the "substance of the contents" into the "form of the contents". Forming is understood as the process of attribution and suppression of values and functions; of the constitution of specific semantic-cognitive nuclei. The corpus is the text "O mistério dos Piranhas" published in the Science section of the weekly magazine called Veja (2007,40, n. 15,p. 90).
