INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACH FOR THE CREATION AND PRESERVATION OF NEW SIGNS IN LIBRAS TERMINOLOGICAL DICTIONARIES
Abstract
This article considers the relationship between linguistic development and the information technologies, in the ambit of the sign languages in general, and of Brazilian Sign Language, Libras, in particular. It also explores the importance of considering the terminological aspect of Libras, a very recent subject in linguistic studies. It is a case study of the proposition of terms for Libras, in the Architectural Drawing area. Two problems motivate this work: the terminological lexicon deficiencies in Libras, in the fields of Science, Technology, Culture and Art; and the scarcity of vocabulary puts the onus on the deaf student, hindering his access and permanence in superior academic spheres. This study focuses in the interfaces between the terminological research and the Computer science, which, in the case of the researches in oral languages, remount to the decade of 1960. The studies and interface of the languages of signs with the technologies of information, for the development of the languages of signs, are more recent. That is justified by the massive quantities of data in texts and videos, generated in the terminological researches in languages of signs, in the bilingual and bimodal ambits. This work considers that the Terminology, founded in the vision of the theoretical of the General Theory of Terminology and of the Communicative Theory of Terminology, is interdisciplinary, by definition. It treats the interface among the areas of the Terminology and of the Computer science in the ambit of the Sociolinguistic. In this context, this work uses the methodology of quantitative research, inherent to the processes of production of intrinsic numeric data to the Computer science, as well as of the inherent methods to the construction of software. Additionally, in the specific field of Terminology, it uses the methodology of qualitative research in its research-action processes, which aim to consider the deaf individual's point of view and perspective. They are processes that seek the validation of the terms, generated by automation, close to the academic deaf individuals' linguistic community and to the specialists of the areas here related.
